Feeding Programme – Education4Life

In November 2000, we were handed just £5 (or $9 CAD) and told it was meant to feed the children. We used the £5 to buy beans and maize, while others contributed potatoes, water, and firewood so we could cook a meal of Kitheri. That first day, we served 50 children. Watching them line up for food moved us deeply. There were smiles and full bellies—but the children returned the next day.

What started with £5 has now grown into a vital feeding program serving hundreds of children every day. As the number of children has increased, so has the need to provide consistent, nutritious meals. To sustain and run this program smoothly, we are now seeking a minimum contribution of £10 (or $18 CAD)

We try to serve a balanced diet of Kitheri (beans and maize), rice and vegetables, and on Thursdays—eggs and rice, which is everyone’s favourite meal. Each child in the school receives lunch, ensuring they have the nutrition they need to focus, learn, and succeed in their education.

This support goes beyond just food—it helps cover the rising cost of ingredients, fuel for cooking, clean water, and other essential resources needed to prepare meals daily. With your help, we can continue ensuring that every child is well-fed, healthy, and given the opportunity to thrive.

A small increase in giving can make a lasting difference in the lives of these children.
